i'm thinking bout getting this board and have been reading reviews on it. most of the reviews says the chipset doesnt support the ata controller until you install the sata driver in windows. so does this mean when i boot up very first time (with an new clean hd) it wont detect the dvd drive and so cant install windows?

The only issues regarding the SATA you may find is when using RAID, but other than that its just fine.

With regards to RAID, I had so much problems installing to a RAID array and it failing to access the Floppy Drivers properly, that I ended up just intergrating the RAID Drivers into the CD and it worked flawlessly.

But standard HDs no, there is no problems.
