Sata HD connected to the top yellow sata port on the mobo.

DVD RW connected to the IDE port on the mobo.

Installed an e6420 and a ds3 today and it will boot into windows fine but when I go to boot from a CD to format the drive and reinstall windows there is no activity from the drive.

In windows the drive appears to show up correctly in My Computer but it won't read any cd's that i insert.

The HD shows up as IDE Master 0 and the DVD Drive shows up as IDE Master 4 in the BIOS.

Any ideas?

Might be a setting problem inthe bios i.e, ide mode can't comment really as I have a ds3p-maybe they are similar? My ide writer will only burn single layer as does my sata writer on a ds3p :(
