Hi all,

I swapped my Patriot ram for the bargin that is the GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC).

However if I set the ram to 'auto' on the DS3 board, it boots into 667mhz. has anyone else had this problem?

Cheers. :)

Edit: On this point, I don't appear to be able to run the Ram in a 1:1 setup with my 6300 Allendale. Any ideas?

I had this issue on the DQ6. I just set the multiplier for the RAM x3 and upped the volts to 2.0v ( +0.2v) and all is well.

I *think* this will be the same for you with the DS3.

Hi mate i have the same ram but an e6600,

anyway ive got the same prob as you, although i havent tryed any timings yet "kind of a noob when it comes to these things" i do want to run it at 800 but at the mo on auto i get the same 667 as you,

ive been reading around the forums tryin to figure out how i do it but am still weary as what to do.

any help anyone!

regards.

my system:

Kit:

Gigabyte DS3
Geil 6400 2GB Kit ultra low
e6600
HIS X1900XT

I'm sure everyone who purchased the Geil did read the little insert that was inside the box:

SPD:
For optimized compatability puirposes, Geil uses SPD Safe-mode technology. The rated SPD and the default pre-programmed SPD might be different. Please refer to your motherboard manufacture's owners manual for DRAM Adjustment & Settings.

In other words, leave your memory settings at "Automatic" and the SPD on the memory modules are read and the memory set to the same as the SPD - which on these (any many other PC6400 RAM) 667Mhz.
To run faster you'll either need to use the Gigabyte software from the CD that shipped with your motherboard to increase the memory or go into the BIOS and make the adjustments there.

I'm using a DS4 so the way things are done are subtly different - however it is a matter of going into the BIOS hitting Ctrl+F1 to bring up the advanced settings and then manually setting the memory to what it is rated which is:

800Mhz 4-4-4-12 2.1v

That is the default settings, feel free to play with tighter timings and higher speeds but results will vary.

Hi,

So are you using this same Geil kit in your DS4? Does it work / overclock well?

Thanks
