i recently put together a ds3 motherboard with a Core 2 duo e6300 cpu, using geil 1gb (2x512) pc6400 800mhz ultra low latency ram.

I get into the bios no problem, and ive set the memories voltage etc correctly. When my windows xp cd boots for installation it loads the drivers etc but then i get a bsod after it says that its starting windows.

I have used the windows cd on other installs so im sure its not that, to me its either the ram or the motherboard at fault but i really am stumped. Hoping one of you handsome chaps may be able to show some light on the subject.

Don't know if this helps, but ive had instances where bsod on one xp install and tried a different version and no problem, almost like that particular xp wasnt compatible with the hardware. Also check that cpu heatsink is fitted correctly as that is when load is put on processor.
