Trying to overclock my system but having a bit of trouble. Spec is as follows:

E2180 (stock cooler for now)
Gigabyte DS3-R (v2.1) F10 bios
4x1gb OCZ Vista
8800GT

bios settings:

Ram on auto (5-5-5-15)
Disabled C1E, TM2, EIST
Performance enhance disabled
System multiplier x 2
V.Dimm to +0.3v
MCH to +0.1v
FSB to +0.1v
Vcore tried from 1.35v-1.5v

Tried 8 x 360 to get 2.88ghz and that's the highest it will go before bsod. Tried the same with x10 multi and go the same result.

I was originally on F9 Bios but upgraded to F10 to see if that would help. It didn't :(. I want to get this to 3.2ghz minimum really as from everything I have read it should be capable of this!

things to try? Try an older bios revision? Take out 2 sticks and clock again? What settings should a try change? Thanks for the help.

Is the memory PC5400 or PC6400

I have the DS3 R v2.0 and had a lot of problems trying to get any half decent overclock with the F10 bios.

I switched to the recently released F11 bios and its like i got a new motherboard with regards to overclocking.

I recommend you try it.

Ok, will try it this evening and let you know how I get on. I bought all this stuff yesterday so I don't think I will have a problem going back and exchanging the ram for something else.

The OCZ stuff i have has has always been problem free, as mentioned above it sounds like a Bios issue.

Using the DS3R board with F6 bios, I've just overclocked my E2200 to 3.3Ghz (300x11) tried 3.4Ghz with 1.6v and couldn't get it stable, think i'm using 1.55v to get 3.3Ghz stable. This is with a tuniq cooler, but the temps aren't holding me back at the minute, 3.3Ghz stress tested at 60-61 degrees.

Ram voltage at +0.4
FSB voltage at +0.2

Darryl running your Ballistix @ +0.4v not a good idea, they will die.

Try them at +0.1 or +0.2 max they don't need all the volts you're giving them.

I'm running P35C-DS3R with a Q6600 @ 3.825 - 9X 425 fsb

with 4X1gb sticks ballistix at 1.9v and the NB at +0.1v

There suppose to be running at 2.2volts i assumed default on my mobo was 1.8volts. To be honest though i've only just built my rig, and not had chance to test the memory properly yet once i'm happy with the cpu, i'll play around with the ram.
