Hi all

Just got some new geil ddr2 pc6400 ram. Been working fine with my DS3 and e6300. Been doing some overclocking. Got to 3.3 and started priming. It failed after 19 mins. PC hung, so i tried putting the volts upto 1.5. Booted but only primed for 7 mins before hanging again.

I rebooted but nothing happened. All the lights come on, the gfx fan spins up, case fan spins up, hd starts but nothing on screen. No signal.

Ive tried clearing the cmos with the jumper and by removing the battery for a min. Ive tried putting the old ram in but still no joy. There a no beeps, even with the ram out.

Is my DS3 dead?? All help appreciated.

EDIT: Just tried a different PSU but no different. The reset button works - cycles the power but nothing.

Disconnect the power supply, take out the battery and leave it out for an hour. That will definitely reset the CMOS.

Ack :(

Could be something simple, best to check those before you start thinking of fried equipment.

Is the monitor on stand-by when you turn on the PC? or fully on with no display?
Try removing the gfx card and booting
Make sure the speaker jumper from the case is plugged in
Get/try a new CMOS battery (CR-2032 - can get from many stores)

Other than that, I think it's a case of trying the CPU in another motherboard if you can.

Monitor is on - im using it with a kvm with my server

Removed gfx card and nothing changes

Speaker is in

I doubt anything wrong with the battery - mobo is only 3 months old

Did you have the thermal shutdown enabled in BIOS? If so, you won't have fried the CPU. I suspect you just didn't actually reset the CMOS.

According to the manual it is on by default. I had speed fan running and the temps were no higher than 50 deg c. I have a tuniq tower which is mega for keeping the cpu cool.

Just leaving the battery out for even longer now.
