Just built my new system and overclocked to 3.2mhz using the guide for the ds3 thread on the motherboard section and followed it to the word.

I am now running orthos and would like to know if this is stable should I go on or keep it at this clock and take back the cpu voltage to as low as possible currently 1.45v as per the guide my ram is crucial ballistix 6400 and is currently running at 800mhz at 0.3v over the ds3 stock values i believe that 2.1 but ram is rated to 2.2.

im sorta new to all this so not to sure about the voltages temps after 20 mins on both core fluctuate between 47 and 50 idel was around 33

some advice guys if you would to this noob thanks

Push on ahead dude.

Your temps are fine until they hit ~60c.

You might need to raise the RAM to 2.2v tho.

so if i understand this right when i get to a happy clock i should then start to take the vcore back down untill stable at its lowest settings

If you wish.

Or you can push it to the limit, whereby lowering the voltage would mean having to lower your overclock.

right i think 3.2 is my max i went to the 3.4 but bsod appeared I dont really want to up the voltage yet, is it ok to leave the cpu at 1.45v or should I lower it, im running the ram on stock of 4 4 4 12 2.2v

someone please advise

Thanks

But I think for my first ever overclock the e6420 clocks quite nicley obvioulsy I will have to run orthos for longer than an hour but its been stable and temps are nice

Your temps are fine so I wouldn't worry about the voltage.

But if you're happy with 3.2ghz then try lowering the voltage until it stops booting. Then raise it a little and run Orthos. If it fails, give the voltage a little nudge again.

mines happy at 3.2mhz at 1.4v so far and temps are low on idle and full load so very impressed so far will maybe try and overclock later when im not frightened of killing things off lol.

would be nice to clock the crucial ram higher than stock, to do that i take it i drop the cpu multiplyer down and up the fsb or can it be done without touching the cpu ???

You can try raising the Memory Multiplier to x2.5 and raising the memory voltage to +5.

That will have the Ballistix running at 1000mhz, and it should have no issues with that.

Right finished my first ever overclocking experience.

E6420 at 3.2 temps idle between 29 and 32 and full load at 46 crucial ballistix running at 1000mhz but i had to slacken timings to 5 5 5 15 at 2.2v

ran 3D mark 06 and score came to 9860 i am using xfx 8800gts xxx the overclocked version with 320mb

do these figures look right to you guys as i have said earlier this is all new to me so any advice to say im about right for what ive done or wrong would be nice.

cheers
