Got this board back from RMA to replace my old DS4 (has DS4 heatsink assembly)
It has the F5 bios, now it doesn't seem to overclock that well as it should, do I need a newer bios or is this one OK, dont want to do it if I have to.
can only seem to be able to get to 400 at a push, now I know this CPU is e6300 is good for 500 and beyond as it has been that high.
Temps are a toasty 58 idle at 2.8ghz which is insane, so gonna take it out and lap it. know these chips run hot, but thats not good.
Cooler I have on it is a Zalman 9500, so should be good enough.
Also tried same volts as I did for 3.5ghz on another board, but wouldn't even do 3ghz at that setting, could it just be due to excess temps.
This is my old stuff that I have put together for me missus to have a desktop. gave her me old 3870x2 and 2 gig of ram to keep her going.
Would like to get at least 450 fsb out of this board, which being a rev 3.3 it should manage as my old rev 1 board did 480 fsb.

DS4 was a better board than a DS3P. I would'nt have been happy with that swap. I had a DS3P and it was a very good clocking board. It's always worth getting the latest bios in my opinion. Just don't use windows software to flash it.

Your not wrong its rubbish, will keep at it, lapped the cpu its still high temps, oh well, have to stay that way.

I did think that, thats why they just put the heatsinks on, would have thought it would be better aswell being rev 3.3
Maybee need to up the voltages some.
Its the missus's now, so will have another play when she is at work
