Ive just had the most agonising day, nothing has gone right since I woke this morning. It looked like it was going to be a great day, I woke to City Link dropping off all my new gear. Only, they really did drop it, the guy just let go of the box full of 700 quid worth of hardware about a meter off the ground. Anyway, my point is on top of that ive had to battle with a million hadrware and software hicups today, lost a lot of backed up data too (I wont explain), so please excuse any basic mistakes im making, im ready to explode.

My system is finally working, i've installed windows and I thought I was ready to go. All I really want right now, is the internet to be honest. On the Gigabyte disc, it said I should have SP1 installed for some of the drivers to work correwctly. After I installed everything, nothing works. No internet, no sound, no USB etc etc. I can't get SP1 atm cause I don't have the internet. Is this why I can't connect? Do I need to get SP1 installed just to be able to surf the web and listen to music?

Please understanf ive been battling with this rig for way over 13 hours, and im seriously starting to go insane, I just can;t think straight. Plus im stupid.

Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

[edit] Im on a friends PC

*Sigh*

Ok, its the next day and im thinking a little more clearly. Im going to give it another shot. What did you guys do to get things running, just install the drivers off the CD? I can't think what I might have done wrong. NOTHING works

Im about ready to eat my rig.

PS. What is the name of the Ethernet Network controller?

yup just used the cd drivers.... and use updated ones off the gigabyte site as well... also installed the latest BIOS version too... they really should work fine, but I remember Fenderbass having problems with his DS4, or was is a DS3? cant remember

Stelly

Thanks.

I just tried again and there is deffinatly something wrong. I HATE THIS COMPUTER.

When I install the drivers on the CD, it all looks fine, windows says its found new hardware (Marvell Yukon) and asks me to set up the network. I chose "This computer connects directly to the internet" as always, then it tries to configure and after a few minutes I get "An error has occured during configuration of the network on this computer. You can configure your network manually or you can run the wizard again with different settings."

I can only think to reformat and try again, I am completeley out of ideas.

What with everything that happened yesterday, I really wish I just hadn't bothered upgrading at all. I am on my knees, please anyone who has the slightest idea whats going on give me a shout. As you can probably tell, im no wizz kid on computers, but ive built a few and this is an absolute nightmare.
