I badly need help, I don't remember ever being this stressed before in my entire life. Ive just set up my new rig, after a pretty intense struggle to set up the hardware im having problems with the onboard network adapter. I use the provided CD to set up all the on board devices. It's worked fine for sound and USB devices etc. So im trying to set up the internet, and its a no go. I install the drivers on the CD, it seems fine, then I try to set up the network. I chose "This computer connects directly to the internet" as always, then it tries to configure and after a few minutes I get "An error has occured during configuration of the network on this computer. You can configure your network manually or you can run the wizard again with different settings."

If I look at my network connections, I see my local area connectin is enabled. When I open IE, it says something like "Detecting proxy settings", but just fails. If I pull out the ethernet cable, it does say Network cable unplugged. So why doesnt it work?

Every time I want to use the net I have to plug in my old rig. I have just installed windows on my old PC on a new hard drive, used the same cable and same techniques and everything is fine. That's what im using right now.

I even tried plugging in a very old network card I had in an old computer lying around, I dont know if it was just borked or not, but I got errors installing that too.

What I dont understand is, everyone else has just been able to install the drivers and get going. My specs are identical to some people using the DS4, what could I be doing wrong? It doesnt make any sense to me. In about two weeks im moving house too, and I need it to work before the move at least! And for it to work at the new place straight off the bat.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer help, I really very badly need it. I am seriously regretting upgrading :(

Nothing?

Could someone tell me if this might be a hardware fault? I need to know whether its worth trying to return.
