When I originally installed XP on one of two new DS4's I got last week, the on-board sound was good, with the software detecting the jack sockets etc. and I was able to gt crystal clear sound through the front audio.
Follwoing a fresh install of XP after other issues, and all of the mobo drivers, vga etc. and a few other bits and bobs, I have now discovered that the front audio socket has a quiet but high pitched whine to it, no sound and the jack isn't detected by the software either.
I know the simple solution is to re-install XP, but I would like to avoid this if possible. When I uninstall the sound drivers the whine disappears from the front audio, but comes back and still doesn't function correctly when the drivers are re-installed.
Any ideas please?
