I'm quickly running out of things try to get this configuration stable...

First of all I have to ask, *why* are Corsair marketing their memory as being compatible with this motherboard when it clearly isn't. "Compatible" means you plug it in and it works without even entering the BIOS.

</vent>

OK so it's a DS4 rev 3.3. 4 sticks of TwinX 6400 1GB.

I've set the vDIMM to +0.3v. I've tried increasing the northbridge voltage by up to +0.15v. I've also tried increasing the FSB voltage by +0.15v as well.

Nothing I do seems to make it stable. And obviously I didn't buy this system only for it to die 6 months down the line from overvolting everything... so I am *extremely* hesitant to increase the voltages any further.

And to top it off, it seems to get worse over time. I might find some "stable" settings that last for about a day. But then it will just fall over. And won't even boot Windows. So it's almost as though components are progressively being hurt in some way. Should I be worried or is it just the memory "soaking in"?

I've asked on the Corsair Support Forum and they're totally useless. They're suggesting to run the memory at 667 :D Yeah OK I'll do that, if you refund me the difference... ;)

Hi mate

Is it a DS4 you're running them in?

Mine is the CAS 5 stuff, surely this can't be causing it?

I have been trying to do MemTest but all that happens when it boots from the CD is "Loading........" and it just locks up on that screen.

Everything seems faultless with 2 sticks installed (2GB).

I can't boot the system on 4 sticks (4GB) at all now, no matter what settings I try - even 667Mhz doesn't work. It simply won't POST anymore :/

I'm starting to suspect a faulty module... If only Memtest would work. Why the hell doesn't it work? Just says "Loading......."

Well it seems that one of the TwinX pairs are faulty.

I took these debugging steps:

1. Insert TwinX pair #1 into slots 1 and 3 (primary)... turns on... POSTs... MemTest86+'s fine... runs Vista fine.

2. Remove TwinX pair #1.

3. Insert TwinX pair #2 into slots 1 and 3 (same slots)... press turn on button... it turns on briefly then turns off again.

So it would seem that my second pair of TwinX has died an infant death?

Rather strange that it was working for 3 days on the trot without issue and then started showing stress symptoms!

PS: I got Memtest86+ working in the end by downloading something called "Ultimate Boot CD". It works from there! :)

PPS: The RAM revisions and model numbers are exactly the same. Infact they all have the same Manufacturing Date according to CPUZ (that was a few days ago when they would all POST and boot and in fact run Vista for many hours straight)

Good to hear, thanks guys.

I'll proceed with RMA'ing this dead pair of TwinX.

The system was running perfectly fine for 3 days and then it seems the memory barfed up... looks like an infant death to me! Probably won't be buying Corsair again after this experience with their QA...
