Anyone know what this files does?

I've had it suddenly appear uninvited everywhere - desktop and in all folders!

Have I made a change unknowingly initiating this?

Open a terminal

defaults write com.apple.ShowAllFiles OFF

I think that's the command...

That command should be default.

Have you been mixing with Windows and Mac by any chance?

Do, via Parallels.

But think I might have selected 'show all files' in preferences a while ago.
