Im quite new to prints, I ordered a few fom DSCL about a month ago and was quite happy really. I haven't calibrated my monitor and use as far as I can tell Srgb in LR4. These were exported in srgb.

I have just installed the dscl colour space for their digital pearl paper as that is what I'm going to order. I exported a few examples in both dscl and srgb and noticed a slight difference (I did expect a difference but maybe not like this)

In the export it looks like blue (sky) and purple/pink(gelled flash) has been boosted, in another gelled green flash was boosted. When sent to dscl will these boosts show or will the result look like the srgb original? As I think I do prefer the export of the srgb.

Thanks

If you don't want to calibrate your monitor/can't, it doesn't hurt to just send off for a few 6x4s with various colour profiles on them. Overlay text that tells you which colour profiles were used for each one and then when you get it back decide which one is closest to your monitor?

Thing is, it's very hard to tell what it is that's changing the colours in programs like the DSCL uploader, it could be the Explorer preview effectively applying your colour profile twice, it could be your screen not applying its colour profile etc. If you're not going to calibrate it, trial and error is pretty much your best way of going about it.

Yea, I see what you mean. I am on the list for the calibrator here... Waiting patiently! However when I am comparing the images its directly exported form LR to the desktop, not in the dscl uploader. So basicly no further editing is being done by anything after the normal export method in LR.

Might just order some and see what happens.

Depending on how much you intend torino you might want to in est in a colour calibrator. This isn't something you can do me,you need to do it once a month or so.

Some camera shops that do rentals also have monitor calibrators available. So if you need to do so quickly without buying one outright, that might be an option.
