Hey!

I just got a DSi and Pokemon Platinum + Starter Pack Bundle and was wondering about the wifi multiplayer capabilities of the Nintendo DS itelf.

I have a wifi network at home and have got the DS working on it properly (Had to change security settings to WEP on the router, which is kind of annoying!). I was reading around though that multiplayer modes, online, do not work in the same way as, say, xbox 360 or even the PC. Instead of seeing lists of games you can join or people in a lobby, it seems you are only able to play with people if you have a 'FRIEND CODE'?

This is really annoying as I have no friends (ok thats a an exaggeration, but this friend code business seems to really limit the potential of multiplayer online games on the nintendo ds).

So, any games not use the Friend Code system? Think Nintendo will ever stop being too parental friendly and allow a normal system of multiplayer game/player detection rather than the convoluted one in use now?

Kind regards,
Riiya.

P.s. Anyone know some good Wifi online games for the DS :D ?

Every Wi-Fi enabled game has to use the stupid Friend Code system but that is only for tracking personal and selected friends for doing head-to-head only games with them. Many Wi-Fi enabled games do have random "Quick Match" type options like Mario Kart DS as an example.

As for other Wi-Fi games,

Animal Crossing: Wild World
Mario Kart DS (Obviously!)
Metroid Prime:Hunters
Tetris DS

And one that I am personally waiting for, Phantasy Star Zero.
