Being dead clever like i am, have gone and forgotten my admin password, so i cant set-up port forwarding on my router.

I have done this before (doh) and last time found a file on the D-Link website saying how you can use TELNET from a local machine via the comm port on the back of the modem and then recover the password.

Have been back to the D-link site and it doesnt exist anywhere.

Does anyone else have a copy of this file, or know how i can recover the user name and password? Have tried flashing the firmware, but you need a password to do that, so it aint happened.

Cheers

Paul (i think ;-)

is it a 504 like this;

or a 504T like this;

if its the 504 which I suspect you should be able to connect using the console cable and hyperterm and type this command flashfs cat initweb that should show you the current password

Ruffneck,

Tis the top 504 (rather old now, but still works OK)

Cheers for the TELNET command. That is what i was looking for. Just got to wait till mrs s gets home from work with a USB-serial cable and will give it a whirl
