considering switch from Plusnet Fibre to Now Tv Fibre. Will I be OK continuing to use my Asus router? I understand they don’t ban third party equipment they just won’t support it - that’s OK. My research hasn’t revealed his easy it would be to continue to use the DSL-AC68U. Do they supply user ID/password or do you have to mess about extracting from their own modem/router? Any thing else I should be aware of? thanks

NowTV = Sky, Sky = MAC encapsulation (often incorrectly referred to as MER), assuming NowTV do the usual Sky thing and refuse to provide a u/p (unless you go fibre pro), then you’d need to wire shark your details for a suitable 3rd party router, I used an AC56U back in the day for this with a dedicated modem, other than my hatred for ASUS intergrated modem/routers and the abomination that was the firmware support (longest thread ever in networking forum and still not resolved?), it’ll work.

The above may have changed, i’ve not been on Sky fibre for a few years now - the only connection I still have with them is ADSL2 based and it wasn’t worth changing the router for the tiny usage level.
