Went to help out my mates parents with their computer as they couldn't access the internet.

He has a DSL Lynksis router&modem which I turned off from the mains but still didn't rectify the problem. The lights that should be showing on the router were. I could get into the router settings but really didn't know if anything needed changing as it all seemed fine to me. Under the DSL tab it said the connection was up so it must be something to do with the router maybe?

They said it was working fine but when they switched it on the next day it wasn't working.

If anyone can give my some advice on what I should check while I'm there that would be great as running between houses doesn't sound like fun.

Nobody's touched anything so it should be in there. None of them seem to know that password only my mate who is on holiday but I'll have another go.

where abouts do you type in the username and password for the modem for the linksys router?

That would be fanstastic! I just rang BT who said the line was fine and I needed to ring Lynksis to find out where to enter the username.

So the setup>basic setup page. Thanks for that.

Just to make sure the Encapsulation setting also has the bridged option aswell?

Thanks very much for your help! It worked. :D

Now I have to figure out why my PC is idling around 55-60C!!!
