DSLR Advice £300-350

Hi,

Girlfriend is looking at buying a new camera and is looking at a Nikon D3100, is this a good choice? Any other cameras that she should look at?

Don't forget the Nikon are currently doing a cashback so you may be able to extend your budget..

I could look at a D5100, great IQ in a nice body, should be on budget with the nikon cashback.

Wow, just got mine a couple of days ago, now there's £30 back, just my luck :mad:

I'm just about to bite the bullet and go for the Nikon D5100. After cashback can be had for £358.99 inc the kit lens. Had been torn between this or the Canon 650D (£486) but after having a little play with it the Niikon felt a bit better to me and the touch screen wasnt particularly impressive, certainly not enough to justify the extra cost for a total beginner.

Yea with the offer it makes a nikon a no brainer. she is all but decided on the D3100 now, for only £290 cant go wrong. No doubt though when she has a play with them she'll go for a more expensive one!

Don't fret, I got my D7000 a week before this cashback was active. A potential £100 sickener.

A nice polite phone call to Nikon and they said they would honour the cashback for me and sent out a claim form to me.

A week later and I have pre-paid Visa credit card.

And if that isn't outstanding customer service, I'm not sure what is.

Ring them on 0330 123 0932. I'm sure you'll get your £30

An eos 1100D might be worth a look
