DSLR Noob here - help!

Hi guys.

I'm looking to get into photography.

Bet looking at DSLR camera.

I have two in mind the

Sony a450 digital SLR camera kit - with 55mm lens AND UV filter - battery pack - carry case and cleaning cloth.

and this.

Camera - EOS 400D
Kit Lens - EFS 18-55mm
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens
x2 Extreme III Sandisk memory cars (4GB and 2GB)
Canon RC-1 IR Remote control
Selection of Tiffen filters
Charger
Battery (replaced fairly recently as the original was losing its charge)
Box, Manuals and CDs
Lowepro Nova 1 bag in excellent condition (mark in photo is dust)
Camera lens and memory card pouches

The sony unit is £215 and the Canon is £210.

Which would be the better option?

The Sony is a good Camera but I would do with the Canon as your more likely to go Canon or Nikon over Sony if you get in to it which means when you buy more lenses you dont need to sell them. You can just keep them ready for your next Canon Body upgrade.

That is exactly what I was thinking.
