When shooting video for an extended period of time the sensor overheats, I was wondering if I should try and attach a CPU heat-sink to aid in cooling. Or just buy an external screen to take away the heat that the screen produces.
I've seen video dollies(?) with external screens. It's probably the reason ? The 5D MkII manual clearly states that the camera can overheat, there's a status icon for that...
The overheating si to do with the sensor, amplifers and read out circuitry.
I know to film House they used used something like 8 5DMKIIs that were kept in a cooler and roated every 5 minutes, Makes me laugh when people think that DSLRs is a great cheap way into videoography, how is buying multiple DSLRs and ktitign them out with proper external screens, mounting options, focussing pulling equipment, external mics etc. workign out any cheaper or easier?
