Looking to pick up a cheapish DSLR camera?

Any recommendations?

Looking at a budget of around £200.

Have noticed a used Sony DSLR-A200K for £200 on Amazon? Worth it?

If not any new alternatives around that price that are worth a look?

Will be used for general photography - would hope for good control of the aperture and shutter speed.

I wouldn't buy a Sony A200. It's a very old camera.

You can get a Sony A58, Nikon D3200 or Canon 1200D all with kit lens for £250-300. It's more than your budget, but I think it's worth the extra outlay for the newer technology at the entry level. You can probably find a better deal used if you have a look around eBay.

Also have a look at some mirrorless models from Olympus and Panasonic, as well as the Sony NEX (now a) models.

Even though i'm a complete novice, I can only say i've used the D3200 and its a great camera imo for the price.

I'm in the loop now to own my first DSLR as its my sister's camera i've been using and i've learnt quite a lot from using it.

So yea, D3200 gets my vote.
