DSLR Video Vs Cam Video

Hi guys

I have just ordered the lovely nikon d3200 kit with vr2 lens.I also have a sony handycam CX-115E which i use at the mo for video.The sony records at 1080i afaik and the nikon 1080p.

Would the nikon produce the same if not better video or should i still keep the sony for taking vids.

I will just have to take a recording from both and compare the difference.

I know that 1080p is better than interlaced but by how much and what can the camcorder offer that the d3200 can't.

That was what i wanted to hear as i don't mind the bulkiness of the camera if the end result is better.Will be using for holidays and parties etc so wanted to use it for videos and pictures and save carrying both around.Will get rid of the camcorder and practice with the nikon.
