Just purchased a DS214+ but I am having a few problems setting up ftp access for a created user group.

I create the user group but I get no option at all to add a password to the user group name so they can access the NAS via ftp.

Does anyone have any idea on how to give a user group a username and password?

Thanks

Hi Dusty

Can you help me out here please m8 because my head is going from one place to another.

All I want at the moment is to set the NAS up so I can use it as a backup service for a few forum members on my forum.

Looking at it I need to set up a mail server 1st so I can invite users to the NAS these are the parts where I am having all the problems.

Ps...I'll even give you the NAS details and let you do it all for me.

The funny thing is it was working last night, I tried it with the admin username and password 1st before I disabled the account and same problem there as well.

Looking in filezilla the actual ports are set higher to the ones that are set inside the NAS.

Hi deuse

I let EZ-Intenet Wizard set it up for me but like you said it has no static IP. Though 2 days ago when I 1st tried everything I could access the NAS via ftp since then I have reinstalled DSM and since the new install I can't access it.

Think I need to do this inside the virginmedia SH under the DHCP Reservvation though doing it correctly is another matter.

I haven't used admin as log in m8 I created another user like you said.

This is the 1st time I've used a NAS and server before yes.

Think I have done it.

I had to run Ez-Internet again and since then I can access the files via ftp and with the admin account and a new user account.

Cheers guys hopefully it will stay this way.

The only other thing I have noticed every time I sign in to the diskstation via webman the LAN IP address keeps changing will this be an issue?
