My spec is as in the below thread:
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17844758&highlight=username_fezster
Gigabyte DSR3 with a Q6600 and G.Skill 4gb ram.
Overclocked to 3ghz (8*375). Ran SP2004 for 4/5 hours with no problems.
I've installed Vista 64-bit, and am having a couple of problems:
1)
All was fine for the first day, but yesterday night, after rebooting, it would get to the memory test and then PC would reboot itself. This would reset the FSB to 266Mhz. No matter what I tried, I could not get it to POST at greater than 266mhz. So I booted at stock (all fine), and I then updated the bios from F7 to F11. I could then POST fine at 3Ghz again.
Today however I got home, and wife had used the PC during the day. Again, FSB was at 266Mhz, so must have done the reset thing again.
This could possibly be related to my second problem.
2) On the first day I ran only the hardware in the above thread. Then yesterday, I added a 120gb Maxtor IDE hard disk and 3 external USB hard disks. As soon as Vista loads up, it says that it's "detected a problem on my hard disk" (the maxtor) and that it's about to fail blah blah blah. Now the disk is working fine, and Ive run a full disk check including a surface scan. Any idea why this is coming up ?
I'm suspecting since the only things that changed from the first day to yesterday was what's in (2), maybe this could have caused the random reset problems.
Any help appreciated...
