We’re in a discussion now regarding a change that we’re doing at 2:00a Central time Sunday Morning. It’s in Texas, so they are Central time zone. At 2:00a Daylight Savings time kicks in, so it will actually be 3:00 here in Detroit, but what will the time be then in Texas, which is one hour behind us? It’s funny and confusing. Does DST kick in at the same time for all time zones, which means 2:00a here EST will be 2:00a CDT? Or is it progressive where the time zones all go at 2:00a regardless?

I'm so confused! :p:o

Bizarrely, I know this :p

It kicks in at the same time (2am) in each time zone, not the same GMT time, so yes each zone staggers their hour change :)

Also, we here in the UK don't go to DST (or BST as we call it, British Summer Time) for another 3 weeks, so the West Coast will only be 7 hours behind us for three weeks, and you there in Central will be only 5 hours behind :)

So thinking about it, at 2am your time (1am in Texas), you will change to 3am. However it will still be 1am in Texas for another hour, before they get to 2am and then it jumps to 3am (4am for you)
