I currently have a arctis 7 and after using a eq they sound quite good to me however for the last month the right side has been cutting out so I was wondering if dt 990 are a good upgrade/downgrade to my arctis.

Also I have a asus z370i. Would I need to buy a amp/dac or is the onboard sound fine.

First of all do you have quiet environment?
DT990 is open design and you'll hear environment's sound pretty much normally, unless you're listening something at loud enough volume.

What's the use?
Gaming?

And are you after accurate neutral sound for most details, or also some above neutral bass for good "fun factor" in gaming?

I'm in a very quiet environment and I use headphones mainly for gaming and occasionally a bit of music.

I'm not good at describing music. I suppose I like a bit of bass. Not crazy though

I've had a set of DT990s for a few years now, love them. I wanted the convenience of wireless though so for the past couple of years I've been using a set of Arctis Pro Wireless. I'd gotten used to the sound of them and if you'd have asked me how they compared from memory I'd have said "about the same from what I can remember".

However I got bored last week so I thought I'd plug my Creative E5 back in and my DT990s. It was like I'd been half deaf for the past two years and then I was magically cured.

Bass is more often than not less impactful on open back headphones. But the 990s are still fairly bass heavy despite this. For the current cost they deliver a good fun sound.

They are very good for gaming but you will need to mod a mic onto them.

Very comfy and much cooler temps than closed back too.

Just got a G6 B-stock for my birthday. Was planning to use my AKG K92'a for a while longer before upgrading... but my wife has spoilt me & bought some DT 990 pros as well:D Really fantastic combo for the price:)
