So, Its been a good day trying out my brand new DT990s with a M3 amp but... I can't help but hear the bass feels.. Off, Kinda... flat and I swear I can hear it static in some bass heavy music... Just washed out.

Is the amp struggling with the headphones or is it just cheap? :S

Or is that just how the DT990s are. Not that good with headphones and such. The info does suggest the M3 SMSL can support upto 300 ohm so I dont see why it would struggle?

Edit 1: It seems switching from 24 Bit, 192hz to 24bit, 96hz made a difference in the bass.. It's not as washed out, More sharp. If that makes any sense...

Larger soundstage for fps games while keeping decent bass I found the DT990s prefect for those. After switching to 94k hz am much happier with the bass. No idea why it didnt like 192k hz but maybe just a glitch :D

This is likely a silly question, but; I assume you're using optical and not USB?

USB is 96k, so if you select 192k, then there should be nothing.

Odd why 192k wasn't working as expected with SPDIF. Are you using from a motherboard or sound card optical out?

Selecting 192k is rather pointless anyway though, so by not being able to select it, you're not missing anything; although if something really should work, it's nice to know that it does, even if it is unnecessary.

192k is far more useful for recording purposes than playback. Same goes for 24bit.

Am using Optical from my motherboard into the M3 yea, Decent cable too. I was reading up on the difference between 192k and 96k and what you said is pretty much what google brings back. Nothing really uses 192k so I'll stick to 96K. You did say there shouldn't be a difference though... However when I switch it about you can CLEARLY hear the bass change, It's impossible to explain because you'd have to be here but it does change... It sounds worse at 192k...

For some bloody reason i still had my corsair sound drivers installed and it had eq bass set to max. Uninstalling it resolved the issue... cheers anyway
