Hi all,

Today i bought Logitech's Z506 5.1 system and have it hooked up to my Asus Maximus VI Hero.

I've tested a few games and all seem to be using 5.1 (BF3, Sleeping dogs, Outlast) Arma 3 didn't though for some reason.

My question is in the realtek HD audio manager i have the option to enable DTS connect, what is this? and should i enable it?

And is there anything else i should do?

I'm not very clued up on sound system and setting them up at all so any help would be most appreciated.
One last thing, when testing the setup using either windows 5.1 speaker test or Realtek sound manager 5.1 test, when it comes to the rear speakers, i can hear the test sound in both in the rears and the front speakers, is this normal?

DTS Connect is a 5.1 real time encoder. Same as Dolby Digital Live. They are used because when you connect a speaker system to a motherboard or sound card using a digital connection, the speaker system requires either DTS or Dolby Digital in order for 5.1 to be passed along that connection. Without either, SPDIF (optical/coaxial) can only carry stereo signals.

If you're using optical or coaxial, then you will need it enabled, otherwise the speaker system will just be receiving stereo; to which it will apply Dolby Pro Logic and upmix that stereo to 5.1. DTS and DD are true 5.1.

If you are using 3.5mm cables (analogue), then you don't need DTS enabled, as you are using direct 5.1. DTS and DD only apply when using digital connection.
