First point.

Someone talk me out of buying a second 2407WFP.

Second point, will my HIS x1900 512mb support dual monitors.

Third point, what will I gain from dual monitors, i.e. will games still run on the single monitor well?

If the answers to your questions are 'no' and 'nothing', does that deal with the first issue?

Second point, will my HIS x1900 512mb support dual monitors. Yes

Third point, what will I gain from dual monitors, i.e. will games still run on the single monitor well? Games will work on 1 monitor (Some games can support multiple screens, but not very many at all) But Multi screens are extremely usefull for Graphics/Programming/Web design and general windows use. You will never want to go back

Sorry for not putting you off. My ideal setup is 2x Dell 2001s and 2x Dell2405/2407 :)

Well i'm doing an awful lot of writing at the moment and drawing protein maps and structures... a second monitor would be advantageous.

I thought the 24" screen would let me do it side by side... but.... it is the greed... it consumes me.

Also thinking about getting a mac mini to go on the second monitor as well..... and perhaps share the keyboard/mouse with a belkin thingy ma gig or something....

X1900XT will do it it has Dual DVI outputs. Would i consider using it gaming wise? no way! Sell your monitor and get a decent 24"+!

That'd be too big though? surely?

And I don't think my graphics card can run the 30" dell?

I'm sure your graphics card can run the dell 30" but it won't be able to run games unless you go SLi or crossfire though not so sure with crossfire cos of that dongle thing.

I'm thinking of going dual monitors but my gfx card doesn't have a dual dvi output. Is there a hardware that supports this ? And will it work if I have different type of monitors ?

I used to use 2 different sized TFT's with 1 DVI and 1 VGA just fine. Dual DVI is better though as (with the same monitor's) the colours are much more alike.

I'm guessing you do a lot of image editing / video editing to want two!

Personally I don't but if I had the money I'd buy two :D

Well I'm actually doing a lot of stuff at the moment that would warrant two screens... I'm fed up of alt + tabbing....

Also if you follow GD, I'm spending money to cheer myself up..... I'll let you know if it works tomorrow. I'm taking a day off to wait like a child by the door for citylink....
