Umm.. AFAIK 848 is a single core socket 940 2.2Ghz processor so insn't that 4.4Ghz of computing power?
The 875 is the dual core version at the same speed.
The 8** means that you can put 8 on one motherboard, so if you had a 8 socket motherboard and 8 x 848 CPU's you would have 17.6Ghz of power, or if you put 8 x 875 in one motherboard you would have 35Ghz of power
