I have a new rig with Vista Home Premium 64 bit and was finding it flaky & problematic so decided to install XP 32 on a partition (E of my HD and run a dual boot. This works well and either OS can see the folders of the other as they are both NTFS format but the XP side can't see the gfx and audio drivers and so I have no sound and worse, Il-2 1946 flight sim is running at 1 fps!

The XP OS does not have access to the internet for some reason cannot see the 10/100 port but all the latest drivers are on the HD anyway.

My question is can I just copy the drivers from C: to E: for it to run (and where are the drivers stored?) or do they need to be "installed" by XP?

Cheers, Nick

the drivers need to be installed into xp
simply coying them over will not work
afterall it is a completely different operating system
suggest you boot into vista and use the net to download drivers for your system that are xp compatable and then boot into xp and install them there

Ok, because my Vista OS is up to date with the drivers, it wont download any new ones.

May be I need to get the XP OS connected to the web so that new drivers can be downloaded but the only network connection it is seeing is the firewire, I don't understand why it doesn't see the LAN/high-speed internet connection. I don't wish to appear dumb but I only have average pc skills and am learning all the time!

Any ideas pls.

In brief
Boot into Vista then you need to get onto the website of the manufacture of the PC or the motherboard.
Download the Required drivers for XP. Boot into XP and install those drivers.
