Im trying to setup a Dualboot of Vista x64 and XP Pro x86.
I already have Vista installed and I have searched the web and found many tutorials. I followed such a tutorial today and it all wnet wrong.
I made the partition in Vista, Installed XP but then when it restarted, it got stuck on "Verifying DMI Pool Data" and I had to use the repair conole on my Vista CD to get the computer back to normal again.

Any solid advice on what I did wrong, or advice on how to make sure it works?
Many thanks.

Its is very important you install xp first, otherwise you will have a host of problems like fixing fubared boot loaders.

Install xp on partition 1
and then boot from thr vista cd and install vista on partition 2

It will automatically detect your xp install and add that to the new vista bootloader and thats it really.

Its all automatic,

Theres also a single CMD code which you can use from xp to get rid of vista bootloader and then format the vista partition.

Thanks Sid! The guides I were using were saying its fine to have Vista installed first!
I'll reboot the lot next week, starting with XP :D
