Dual boot, is this possible?

I'm getting random blue screens which I'm putting down to software issues for the time being, is it possible to install XP Home again on a different partion so I have my current XP Home install and the fresh one on the same drive? I want to try various thing on the fresh install but don't want to wipe my current one until I'm sure where the issues lie.

Yep wont be a problem, the bootloader will give you two options, the new install will usually be the first one on the list. Or you can just change the name of the install

What about using a Virtual Machine?

So I can do it on the same drive without wiping my current install? Just pop the disk in an create a new partition?

What's a virtual machine?

A virtual machine creates a file which the software 'sees' as a hard disk. It runs inside of Windows.

Try out VirtualBox.
