dual boot issue:Vista bootloader doesn't appear unless installation media is inserted

As titled really

I have a vista / xp on same hdd, and its dual booting fine except that the vista bootloader doesn't appear at all unless the vista installation media is inserted.

I've got the HDD which has both OSs on as first hdd in priority list.

First boot device is the DVD drive with the vista installation media,

I tried changing HD to first boot device but no luck, the boot loader doesn't appear and it boots to xp straightaway?

Any ideas with this one?

I have read about this problem before but i'm not sure what search for on google to this comes up.

Its hard to explain on a search engine!

Use this to readd the Vista boot loader http://www.vistabootpro.org/. And sort the os entries as you need too.

Or you can also boot off the vista dvd and choose the repair and then startup files.

I had this problem and I fixed it be changing the boot order of my hard disks. I had 3 hard disks in my machine and it would not boot unless the DVD was in the drive. I changed the boot order of my 3 hard disks and it fixed it.
