I decided I wanted to try Win 11 before commiting so decided dues boot. I had a spare 250GB SSD laying around so installed it and followed the following:

https://uk.pcmag.com/migrated-3765-windows-10/135645/how-to-dual-boot-windows-10-and-windows-11

Whats weird is this worked with my old system which I have just upgraded but anyway its no longer works. I get the dual boot option of Windows 10 and Windows 11. Windows 10 works fine but 11 gets me a blue screen of death. Error code 0xc 000000e and a ref to a srttrial.txt log file I get this:

Name: System boot log diagnosis
Result: Completed successfully. Error code = 0x0
Time taken = 0 ms

Boot manager generic failure 0xc000000e

Root cause found:
---------------------------
Boot manager failed to find OS loader.

Repair action: File repair
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x57
Time taken = 860 ms

Repair action: Boot configuration data store repair
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490
Time taken = 31 ms

Scratching me head now as to how to fix it?

To reset everything back to normal:

-right click the start button>run>msconfig
-on the "boot" tab, highlight the entry for windows 10 and "set as default"
-now remove the entry for windows 11
-click OK to close msconfig and reboot when prompted
-it should now boot with no choice and you're back to how you started.

I always dual boot from mounting the ISO in windows without booting from USB. There's no point. To do that:

-format the spare SSD using disk management and make sure it has a drive letter
-mount the windows 11 ISO and run setup.exe from the sources folder (not the root of the ISO)
-follow setup steps as normal choosing the freshly formatted SSD
-complete setup as normal
Thanks but I want to fix it so dual boot works
