Hello,

I havent done a Dual boot(2 OS 1 drive) in quite some time and the last time it was windows 7 & 10, but i want to do a Dual boot using windows 10 and an OS pre-windows 7 as its for an old tech build and from previous experiences of trying to play some old games, i have had a lot of compatibility issues, even when trying to use some DosBox software on windows 10.

I know it should probably be straight forward like any Dual boot, Has anyone done one with new windows plus anything from windows 98-vista and done it without any issues?

also, im not sure if it was ever a thing, but can you triple boot on a single drive?

so i have a 512gb ssd spare and a recent purchase of a 1tb for a system i dont need it for now and so was thinking instead of having more than 1 hard drive connected, i would partition the 1tb to allow 2 versions of windows and SteamOS, but assuming this was possible as i havent tried S-OS in quite a few years.

Yes you can triple boot on one drive
Up to 4 OS if its on mbr
If its gpt not sure there's a limit
Or if there is its so high its irrelevant

I prefer the use separate drives approach
For each OS
Partitioning was more of a thing
Back when large size drives were expensive
A 500gb ssd is relatively cheap nowadays
And large hdd are cheap
And 500GB is plenty of space unless you put hundreds of GB
Of games on there

Not done it in a while
But have done windows 10 and windows ME in the past
On one drive for my stepson
Same reason as you he plays really old games
His laptop only had 1 drive so in his case yes
I did partition it and it worked fine
