Hi there.

I have

30gb physical drive maxtor old drive ata100
-10gb windows partition
-18gb storage partition

200gb physical drive maxtor diamond max 10 ata 133
-90gb games partition
-90gb storage partition

I have windows xp with sp2 and all configured nicely on c: (10gb windows partition)

I want to dual boot with vista as i just got x64 version and want to dual boot with xp.

Can someone based on above help me with what i need to do to install vista and have a xp or vista option when the computer boots. Thanks.

The way i would do it if i did it myself would be just put the vista disc in and install and install to the 200gb drive with a new partition of say 15gb or so. But im worried incase dual boot wont work and couldnt get xp back somehow. So hence asking for help in how to set all this up.

Cheers.

If you install Vista over XP then you will get the option to dual boot. Very easy to do. Just follow on-screen prompts.

I only have 2gb left on the xp partition hence was gona install on new 15 - 20 gb partition on my faster 200gb drive. Or is that not possible? Does it HAVE to be installed over xp as in vista needs to be installed to c: like xp was?

Also i want to transfer all my registry info (games firefox stuff like bookmarks etc) from xp to vista. Is there a procedure to do it as i dont fancy installing everything over just so vista picks it up etc.
