I'm using windows 10 and I've been getting crashes in games - I already have a thread about that here:https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18727621
I'm just wondering if I could try using windows 7 for a while to see if the problem occurs on 7 as well.
Never dual booted before. Can I just make a new partition on my C: drive and install Windows 7 to that? Is it better to have them both on one physical drive?
Can I use my Windows 7 retail activation code (which I'm currently using for Windows 10) for both installations?
Will it boot into Windows 10 automatically? Will there be a boot menu when I turn on the pc?
Will I have to use the bios to choose the boot drive?
Can I keep all my installed programs and settings that are on my Windows 10?
I think using Windows 7 would be a better test than just using compatibility mode in W10.

it's always better to find the underlying issue. which nearly always isn't the OS.
have you looked in event viewer and seen whats causing it to crash.

as to how to dual boot, just google plenty of guides about that will talk you through it.

as for license technically no, but I doubt you'll have any activation issues.

I would put the two different OS's on different drives.
Then once the OS's are up and running, in the BIOS set your chosen OS as first boot and if you want to boot into the other OS press F8 at post and simply select the other drive.

That's how I set up all my multi boot systems.

There are a lot errors in the event viewer. The one that I've noticed happen when there was a crash was DistributedCOM 10016.
I searched for that error code and I tried to follow the solution from this:http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-security/distributedcom-error-event-id-10016-windows-10/33ba9a70-dc08-4b5f-83b7-a2a11f96e67e?auth=1
but there were some options not available to me in the settings.

I don't know if that worked yet because I haven't played the games that tend to crash long enough really know. I'm not able to reproduce the crashing every time so it's hard to know what's working.
