Oop north - where it's grim...
Hi All

As title - is it possible to have a system dual-booting Windows XP Pro (32-bit) and Windows Media Centre (32-bit).

I'm guessing not but confirmation would be great.

Cheers

Cheers all. It's for testing purposes, hence the strange request.

I thought it wouldn't work as it's just XP with boltons (as I didn't think you could have two installations of XP dual booting), but you live and learn.

Didn't work after all - setup ran OK, on reboot machine just booted back into the original XP install.

Oh well...

If you install on different partitions, there should be no problem. If it didn't take care of the bootloader itself, have a look at the boot.ini file and change it manually.

The problem is it never gets as far as installing, so there's nothing to point the boot.ini file to - it reboots after setup finishes copying files (the first stage, before the graphical install starts), then just boots back to XP.

It is in a separate (logical) partition.
