Hi,
I'd like to install as above on a new build and have 3 x 500Gb HDDs to play with, so whats the best way to install these (apart from XP first)? I'm thinking either..

XP on HDD1, Vista on HDD2 and data etc. on HDD3. Possibly with XP swap files on HDD2 and Vista ones on HDD1 but is it worth bothering with the swap files on separate physical drives?

HDD1 & 2 in RAID 0 mirror with separate partitions for the two OSs and HDD3 for data.

Any suggestions? Probably should have bought 4 HDDs and gone for RAID10..

Cheers, Andy.

Make two smallish partitions like 25GB (is enough if you onlyinstall the OS on that partition, my Vista install is on a 15GB partition)

Make a games partition and a files partition and install the games there, but remember that you have to install the games on the OS you want to use it with, if you install a game with XP it will not work with Vista.

I never bothered with swap files on different partitions, the speed difference is minimal AFAIK.

Cheers both, current thought is to use 2 disks in RAID 0 with three partitions - one each for XP and Vista with the third to act as a primary data drive. Thinking I could then use the third HDD as a back up for the data drive. Will need to investigate some backup software then I can ask to back up this data when I shutdown or something.

Thanks again, Andy.
