Hi,

Current Spec - 8800 GTX, Intel Core2 6600 on an Asus P5B Deluxe, currently 2gb Ram.

So that I can play the latest DX10 games, I need Vista right?

I use XP pro most of the time (web design work), so I am looking to set up a dual boot machine so that I can boot into Vista when I want to play games - will probably run it from a sep HDD.

But I was wondering about memory - With Vista, I can have more memory - but what happens when I want to run XP? Will the extra memory be ignored, or do I need to take it out every time I boot back to XP?

On the p5b you will have to enable the memory remap feature in the bios for over 4gb (64 bit) vista vill show as 4 gb but on my p5b with the memory remap enabled (32 bit) xp would only show as 2gb with 4 gb installed, but if i disable the memory remap in the bios it wouls show as 3gb.

Since you currently have 2GB of Memory, when you boot into either XP or Vista, you will be able to use all of that 2GB of memory. You do not have to touch or take anything out just boot into the operating system that you would like to use.

When and if you upgrade to 4GB of memory, you will have to be either using XP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit to ultilize all 4GB of memory.
