Hey guys,

Been a very long time since ive done this,

Planning to Dual boot Xubuntu with Windows 8.1 and have a couple of questions id appreciate help with.

Consider im starting from fresh so will be installing both OS fresh on a Clean SSD.

1.Do i need to install Windows 8.1 first?

2.Do i need to create a separate partition on my SSD for Linux in Disk management within windows ready for installing Linux?..and if so FAT32 or NTFS?

As i hardly game these days,Id like to use Linux more often but still have the option to play the odd game or two,Thats only why im keeping Windows.

I have the exact same setup. Install Windows then Xubuntu using Xubuntu to resize your Windows partition.
I'm finding I spend most my time in Windows still though due to games. I tried Borderlands in Xubuntu but the FPS loss was huge. I think the Radeon drivers though are the issue as their known to be way behind compared to Nvidia.

I went for 8.1 on one SSD and then Linux on another, l just made sure only one was connected during install of the required OS, all other drives disconnected.

But 8.1 first, resize then Linux,
