How do I go about setting up a dual boot? I have just got my paws on Windows 7. I would like to install it alongside my XP to campare it and ease transition for docs n settings. is it just as simple as making a new partition and installing it? Will I get a choice of systems when I start up my machine?

just done this myself.

install xp first on 1 partition/disk. then install win7 on another. My system is giving me the choice which one to load on boot up now both are fully installed (defaults to win7)

I did this (had XP installed on one drive and then installed Win7 on another drive) and now I don't get a boot menu at all. Is there a way to make Win7 recognise the XP installation? It doesn't even show up in System Properties/start up.

Edit: Fixed it myself. I used a program called EasyBCD and rewrote the MBR!
