If you have a dual boot option xp or vista 64 and a game is only direct x 9, which operating system would be the best to use? I know that even a directx 9 game running under vista requires more memory. The Witcher , for example under recommended specs running in Vista requires dual core cpu and 2 gig of ram. Minimun specs in xp are p4 single core @2.4 ghz with 1 gig of ram.

dx9 performance is the same on both these days. Vista was slower when it came out, but the video drivers have come along way. Plus a few updates from ms have increased performance.
Just noticed u have 1 gig. with the price of ram these days, get some more
Edit: If your keeping 1 gig then XP is probably better for games.
