Hey all,

I dont want to run 2 cards in SLI because they arent the same type of card, i just want to put a second card in so that i can run another monitor. I have the Gainward 7950GX2 and it doesnt allow dual monitor support, so i am putting my old ATI X700 in the spare PCI express slot, when i put it in and installed all the drivers i went to the properties of the 7950 again and it saying now that its runnin at 8x instead of 16x, is that because i have the second card in the motherboard?

Thanks.

wont matter though as the 8800gtx and gts are the only cards to have actually need a 16x to work

ah kk.

Another question about dual cards. I running a 22inch off the 7950 and a 17inch of the old X700 card. When i playing a game on the 22inch and want to watch tv, i try to drag the TV card program over to the other monitor but it comes up with an blank screen.

I go into dxdiag and it says that direct 3D is not enabled on the second card the x700, is there anyway to have both cards running direct 3d seperatly, almost both doin 2 seperate things. So i can watch tv and play games?

hmm how about making my second card run openGL and making my primary run direct3d, anyway of making it do that does anyone know ? and whether it would help?

you have to have them in the same res or it goes mad, i have 2 19" widescreens connected to a x1900xt , one for games and one for TV if the res isnt 1440x900 on both it doesnt work :( try that, some programs work tho and some dont CS:S GTR2 CS1.6 DOOM3 Q4 etc all work fine while watching tv @ the same res as the primary screen,

yea see the thing is , running 2 cards of a dual headed card is fine, thats easy, *** the problem i have here is that the graphics card i have has dual headers but doesnt support two monitors when you run the card in SLI mode, so u disabled dual gpu to get dual monitors, but pointless cause u loose performance.

So i put me old card in the second PCI Express slot but i am recieving the above problems.
