Hi there guys, ive been racking my brain over this for days now, and it seems the more i read into different setups, the more confused i seem to get about which to get. Im looking for 2 cards to run on my new setup that ill be splurging out quite a bit for.

cpu - 2600k @ 4.8
mobo - asus extreme iv z68
ram - 8gb ddr3
monitor - samsung series 9 27"

Now basically i realise that the monitor will do a max 1920 but i want to invest big into a system now that i can always update the monitor later on down the line to a 2560x1440, once they get their **** sorted. Now as for the graphics card setup, my budget is £1200. What im after is complete power that wont tempt me with the 7XXX series coming out at the end of the year haha

any help would be great! thanks!

If you have decided not to wait for the upcoming 28nm cards and must buy graphics cards now, then for your resolution I would stay away from anything with less than 2GB vram per GPU. Here are some solutions for you to consider:

3 x GTX580 3GB = around £1350
2 x 6990 = around £1100 or cheaper
1 x 6990 + 1 x 6970 = around £850 or cheaper

I would definitely stay away from any GTX590 or GTX580 1.5GB.

As you want to keep your cards for a while, and want 2560x1440, I agree with Harmony. I would choose the GTX580 tri SLI

or go for some really **** bloke card atm that will handle windows 7 gui anddddddddd southern islands sigh!!! sometimes i hate technology !
