Dual channel and Memory CAS

Hi there,

Today I think I've discovered why I've been having so many problems trying to get my system stable when o/c'd. One of my TwinMOS memory sticks is throwing up errors, the other is fine, so I'm going to need another stick.

As I'm running dual channel I'm going to need something that will match my current TwinMOS 512MB PC3200 CL2.5 3,3,8.

I've had a look at this Crucial ram but its CL3, is it OK to match 2.5 with 3 as it will be run in dual channel mode?

If you manually set the timings in the bios so that they are the same it should still run in dual channel. I did this with a pair of PNY PC3200 1GB sticks. One had a cas of 2.5 and the other 3. I tweaked the timings in the bios and got them both down to 2.5-2-2-5 1T and they ran in dual channel even though they had different memory chips. One had Hynix chips and the other had Samsung chips. :D

Thanks, but it looks as if my memory is in fact fine after all this.

Last night after testing some different combinations i've realised DIMMS 1&2 on my NF7-S mobo are "dodgy". I cannot get my memory to run using a FSB of 200mhz (400mhz) in either of those 2 DIMMS.

DIMM 3 however is fine, but I can only run 1x512 @ 400mhz, so it looks as if i'm going to need another motherboard, and seeing as NF7s are no longer, it will have to be Ebay. Don't have enough posts for the members market on here :(
