i just bought another x2 3800 but i cant seem to get my memory to run as it did.

i've tested each stick on their own and they do 270mhz stable but as soon as i put both sticks in either dual channel or single channel i get errors even at stock speeds

can 2 matched sticks just stop working with each other? or could it be my cpu's memory controller? or even the mobo?

I was going to say make sure they are not 1x single sided and one double sided, but you mention they are matched...bugger sorry.

well i got some replacement ram today and that seems to work ok but will do nowhere near its rated speed of ddr550 (275mhz) it even stuggles to do 250mhz.

while i was waiting for this mem to arrive i tested some more with my old mem, i found that i can run fine in dual channel in banks 2-4 but 1-2 will not even boot yet the new mem WILL run in banks 1-2.

with my old x2 3800 my mem had no problems what so ever running in banks 1-2 and all i have done is swap the cpu out for another x2 3800.

i called AMD support and the guy said it will be the cpu's mem controller and to send it back :( what do you guys think? i just read about some guy sending his ram back twice to ocUK and it got returned as working so he ended up buying new stuff which worked fine, i dont want that to happen to me!
