Hey guys, do u guys set affinity for ** computer processes to 1 core of ** cpu and set only game to the other core, or u just let the system decides?

Just let the pc decide for itself - occasionally you will find a game performs better with the affinity specifically set but this is usually for older ones.

I generally set my games to use the second core, i have found that the 2nd core has almost always been slightly more efficient than the 1st core, you may get a small increase in fps, but not too much...

I play a lot of rts games, and i find it helps more in rts than it does in fps games...

You're joking right? This is the problem with the internet. Anyone reading this - please don't act on this misinformation.

this utility works and by putting the virus scanner and various other background programs/services on to core 2 it has made the machine feel more responsive. Can't comment on game performance though as the system is fast enough anyhow.
Windows balances threads between all available cores and it does so in a dynamic fashion that surpasses what any human or user mode application can do. Other than for convenience in setting an old game to be compatible, these types of utilities serve no purpose what so ever. They do not help performance in the slightest but in fact degrade it.

On my Conroe core 1 is ever so slightly faster than Core 0.

In 20 min Super Pi, Core 1 finishes +20 sec quicker
